September 23, 2023 is the first day of autumn – can you believe it! Where has summer gone? We are seeing that ever-so-subtle shift in nature that says “yes, it’s hot right now, but autumn is coming…soon.”
First off - It’s Sourdough September (yes, it’s a thing!)

We should get our sourdough starter going so we can bake our own bread this winter – we don’t remember the last time we baked our own bread but it sounds like a great to-do!! ~ National Good Neighbor Day is right around the corner – September 28th – Get out there and introduce yourself and connect with others in your neighborhood. It simply starts with saying “hello”. ~ After meeting a few new neighbors, you can celebrate the Harvest Moon which will appear the evening of Thursday, September 28th ! For several evenings the moonrise comes soon after sunset resulting in an abundance of bright moonlight early in the evening, which was a traditional aid to farmers and crews harvesting their summer grown crops! So now you know!
