With the recent time change, Quaid & Rooney's own Craig Williams, Broker and Wheaton Fire Fighter, has a few Smoke and CO Detector safety reminders for you:
1. Test your smoke and CO detectors!
2. Change the batteries out on all devices!
3. Check the dates on the back of the units and replace if past their life expectancy - smoke detectors last about 10 years and CO detectors last about 5-7 years.
Why do it? Electronic devices are not infallible. Batteries die, and other parts of the detectors can wear out over time. Testing these devices regularly and replacing batteries (or the entire device) is one way to help ensure your family stays safe should there be a fire in your home.
